Like in some other of Ampudia’s works, Where to Sleep (2008) is born of a minimal gesture. In this case, to sleep inside a museum, something that we have historically deemed illegal and subversive. Behind the apparent banality of this daily gesture lies a resistance towards certain social fictions or conventions and a political position. A piece through which Eugenio Ampudia is proposing a reformulation of how we live under an attitude which, in its simplicity and repetition (since this work is part of the larger series) returns our gaze to the way in which the individual relates to the public space. It is, in itself, a way to review the memory with which we build the social space.
